About Me

Markus J. Rantala

I'm Markus J Rantala, evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology associate professor and associate professor of ecology and environmental management.

I have completed a doctoral degree in philosophy and biology, and psychology. I work as a university lecturer at the University of Turku and teach and coordinate the minor subject of evolutionary psychology.

Among other things, I study mental disorders and sexuality from the perspective of evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology.

I have Published over 200 scientific research articles. I also published the book Biology of Depression - An Evolutionary Psychological Perspective on Mood Disorders in late 2019, which looks at depression from an evolutionary psychology perspective.

I believe that evolutionary biology and psychology bring an increasingly individualized view of treatment to medicine.
